Chris started his digital journey when he launched Cloggs.co.uk back in 2001. Cloggs was one of the first retailers in the UK to start selling shoes online.
It was a time of dial-up modem connections and 16 step checkouts, online retailing was not easy! However Cloggs grew from strength to strength and over the next decade firmly established itself as a market leader in retailing Branded footwear online with a peak turnover of £15 million.
In that time Cloggs became well known for its outstanding SEO and Digital Marketing tactics, regularly maintaining No.1 positions for its organic keywords and outperforming the national competition of Schuh and Office. The business was eventually sold to JD Sports in 2013.
Chris continued to work with the business under the new ownership until 2016 before finally exiting to start a fresh adventure with Apex Ecommerce. Under Chris’ stewardship during the early years is where Cloggs learned and developed its own best practice techniques of SEO and PPC which were forged on the front line of 24/7 online retailing, where there is no hiding place!
